Homeschool Partnership
Homeschool partnership at Cupertino Academy.
Specialized literacy intervention within your family’s homeschool plan — whether you already homeschool or are considering it for the first time. Cupertino Academy becomes the trusted partner for the complete, daily English language arts and Orton-Gillingham instruction a child with dyslexia needs.
What we are
Specialized intervention through a homeschool partnership
Cupertino Academy is a homeschool partnership, not a homeschool co-op. Our teachers provide daily, specialized literacy intervention and your child’s complete English language arts curriculum. Families direct the rest of their child’s homeschool education.
This partnership creates a focused season for strengthening reading, spelling, writing, and language skills while students continue learning other subjects at home. For families whose goal is a future public or private school placement, our work centers on building the literacy foundation and confidence that can support that transition.
How it works
A partnership, not a handoff.
Cupertino teaches the complete ELA curriculum
- Reading, spelling, and handwriting
- Vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension
- Writing, taught alongside everything above
- Families do not need to purchase or teach a separate ELA curriculum
Families oversee the remaining subjects
- Math, science, history, and social studies
- Electives and other areas of your child’s education
- The applicable homeschool responsibilities — filings, records, attendance, and assessments
- Consistent attendance and reinforcement at home
We offer curriculum suggestions
- Recommendations for the subjects taught outside Cupertino
- Help making informed choices for your child
- Useful whether or not you have homeschooled before
- Ask us as you plan — you do not have to work it out alone

You do not need to purchase or implement a separate homeschool ELA curriculum, or add separate Orton-Gillingham instruction at home. Reading, spelling, handwriting, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and writing are taught together at Cupertino Academy, daily, within the same trusted relationships.
Placement
Thoughtful placement for each learner.
Every student is part of our Foundations program, which follows a two-hour structure: specialized literacy intervention during Hour 1 and broader English language arts instruction during Hour 2. We offer three pods, and the names describe the ELA focus of that second hour:
- Foundations — Early Elementary
- Foundations — Upper Elementary
- Foundations — Middle School
Every student’s placement takes both their WADE assessment results and their current grade level into consideration. We review these together to recommend the most appropriate pod, pairing the foundational literacy instruction your child needs with English language arts instruction suited to their grade and stage of learning.
A student may need support with foundational reading and spelling skills while also benefiting from more mature literature, discussions, and writing topics. Considering assessment results alongside current grade level helps us address those needs together.
What you keep
You remain the director of your child’s education.
Students attending Cupertino Academy participate through a Georgia home-study program. Your family remains responsible for current Georgia home-study requirements — your child’s overall education, the subjects taught outside our literacy block, records, attendance, and any applicable assessments.
Cupertino Academy supplements and becomes part of your home-study program. It does not replace or manage the complete homeschool.
Read the Georgia Department of Education home-study guidance.

Community for your student
A stable Foundations pod of peers who understand that reading can take more effort — where progress is shared, friendships form, and a child is not the only one working this hard.
Community for you
Direct communication with your child’s teacher, shared ideas and encouragement from other parents, and practical clarity about how to support your student at home.

For families new to this
Homeschooling wasn’t part of your plan? We understand.
You may never have pictured yourself homeschooling. If your child is struggling with reading or writing, the thought of changing your family’s educational routine can feel overwhelming. You may wonder what you would teach, how to choose curriculum, or whether this means giving up your hope of a public or private school education.
Those are understandable concerns. You do not have to have everything figured out before reaching out to Cupertino.
We take responsibility for your child’s complete English language arts instruction and offer curriculum suggestions for math, science, history, and other homeschool subjects. Your family remains responsible for those subjects, with recommendations available to help you get started.
For families pursuing a future school transition, homeschooling can be a purposeful season of intervention. Our goal is to help your child build the skills and confidence to move forward, with the timing guided by their individual needs and progress.
