When Once-a-Week Tutoring Isn’t Enough
For some students with dyslexia, occasional tutoring is simply not enough intervention.
Cupertino Academy provides two hours of intensive, in-person literacy instruction each weekday in a small-group environment designed around the needs of students with dyslexia and related reading difficulties.
Our students receive their literacy instruction at Cupertino Academy while completing their remaining academic subjects through homeschool.

Cupertino Academy is not an after-school tutoring program. Our literacy block is designed to serve as the student’s primary ELA/literacy instruction.
Do We Have to Already Be a Homeschool Family?
No.
Some Cupertino families may already homeschool, while others may come to Cupertino because their child’s current school setting is no longer meeting their reading needs.
Families do not need to be experienced homeschoolers before considering Cupertino.
Cupertino provides the specialized literacy instruction that can be difficult for families to reproduce on their own, while parents oversee the student’s remaining homeschool subjects.
Who Is Cupertino For?
Cupertino may be a good fit for students in grades 1–6 who:
- Have diagnosed dyslexia
- Are suspected of having dyslexia
- Continue to struggle with decoding or reading fluency
- Have significant spelling difficulties
- Are reading below expected levels
- Have received intervention but are still not making adequate progress
- Need more intensive instruction than a traditional classroom can provide
- Need a smaller instructional environment
